I just bought the 32 gb zen x-fi, and returned it after 3 days.

The UI was a joke & hard to navigate. The software that came with it? Pathetic. the 9 keys? retarded design. The player also froze on me 4 times and i had to do a reset to turn it back on.

The software that came with it automatically loaded whatever files were in the “my videos” and “my pictures” and “my music” folders. I have like 200 gb between all 3 folders. So my player was instantly loaded with crap.

The video converter was crap to. it took my avi’s and cut the resolution in half. But the speaker worked well. The only way I was able to erase everything, was to format the disk. POS. stay away. They need alot of work on this thing.

In theory, everything seems great about this player, except for the obvious SD slot shortcomings. But in reality, its not worth the effort.

    Pros:

    - SD slot for expandability (though not integrated with players memory)

    - FM radio

    - Built In Speaker

    - Voice Recording

    - Decent earbuds

    - Large Screen on compact player

    Cons:

    - Craptastic Software

    - Unfriendly User Interface

    - Retarded Button design (The previous zen’s is much better)

    - Software Freezes

With a player with this many problems that interfere with regular daily use, Im playing with the thought of just getting an…. (shutter) … iPod.

As soon as I opened the box and turned my player on- it was stuck in lock mode. There has been no button, including the off button that I could use to get it off of lock. Of corse I tried pushing up to lock and then back down again. I tried resetting 100 times. I tried everything. I have not been able to do anything with this brand new player I took out of the box less than 1 hour ago. I guess I will be sending back tomorrow and contacting customer service for Creative (405-742-6622). Hopefully my warranty will cover me!!!!!!!!! I’m scared.

I tried to like this player but alas, here is a list of serious complaints:

    - Build quality: awful, the casing began coming apart after two weeks of careful use

    - Software: abysmal and slow both on the unit and PC (actually, the PC software is essentially unusable in my opinion)

    - Navigation: Buttons are hard to press and often need to be pressed twice.

    - X-fi: makes some music sound great, makes most other music sound like crap

Result? Returned after two weeks. I highly recommend not buying this player.

When I chose this product I thought I was buying something good but I was wrong, to have known, I would have bought a generic mp3 and could save money. Worked quite well but suddenly just stopped working.

unfortunately I am not in the US so I could not send the product back. Sincerely I was waiting more from Creative. I was wrong.

The item is unable to connect to the Yahoo messenger as promise. It is not worth the money. Get a Apple touch instead.
