How Can You Hook Up 2 12v Speakers To Play Music?

I have a 12v battery in my boat. I also have two 12v speakers. I also have an iPod. Here’s what I wanna do and I barely know anything about electronics: I want to hook them all up together to play music off of my iPod on my boat. How would I got about doing that? Don’t I need something like an amplifier or a car stereo also? Please tell me how to do this. Thanks
